Abstract #1380427: Graves’ Disease Manifesting as Pancytopenia Without any Other Overt Signs: Case Report

Pancytopenia is a rare complication of Graves’ disease although it usually associated with hematological abnormalities. Here case Graves; presented who was admitted cellulitis and did not have any symptoms hyperthyroidism on presentation. The patient found to be pancytopenic, biochemistry consistent thyrotoxicosis (TSH < 0.01 mU/L, Free T4 31.7 pmol/L, total T3 6.5 nmol/l). He seen by hematology team initially extensive investigations including bone marrow biopsy CT scan chest, abdomen pelvis identify the cause abnormality. His thyroid peroxidase antibody receptor were checked which both positive. After discussion endocrine team, he started Carbimazole 20mg close monitoring his full blood count function test. counts continued improve dose titrated down 5mg over next 3 months, plan continue carbimazole for 18 months. in has been described less than 50 cases literature. Hematological abnormalities tend normalize treatment these patients as demonstrated our case. Evaluation status should considered when evaluating pancytopenia if usual workup does reveal cause.
